On the 18th, I ran errands and had lunch with Sarah at the Alaskan Native Hospital. Below are some of the displays of the Native art, my favorite is the bead work.
Below are 2 of Sara's co-workers. Gloria is from New Mexico and is a hoot. She is a great resource for things in Alaska. Risa is someone Sarah enjoys a LOT.
The flowers in Alaska are so beautiful you can't believe it. I decided that Lucas and Sarah had to have some flowers on their new porch. I bought flowers and Sarah, Lucas and I planted them on one of the prettiest days ever. Sarah said she never knew why people got so excited about a beautiful 70 degree day in Alaska, but after living here a year, she totally understands. Sarah wanted to be outside from the time she got off work. It would have been a good day to go out sightseeing, but we had to wait for Directv. Directv had promised an install for a week, so the Cavett's were ready to get their tv back.
Deveva and David are Sarah and Lucas' closest friends. David is in the Coast Guard with Lucas and Deneva is ex-Army and now a student. The sewing machine is Deneva's. Now it is Deneva's turn to make a table runner. The girls are doing great and will hopefully support each other in continuing with sewing.
I slept from 10:30 to midnight. Sarah and Lucas stayed up to make the trip to the airport. 2 a.m. Meme and Byrom arrive. We waited for 40 minutes at the luggage carrousel and NO bags. The luggage department said that their luggage was "short routed" and only made it to Denver. Their luggage is scheduled to be in Anchorage at 2:00 p.m. LET'S HOPE. Byrom's luggage is loaded down with frozen venison for Lucas. Hopefully we don't have to throw away the luggage and Byrom's clothes can be cleaned. I am predicting a mess.
